Generators London was founded in 2009 with a clear focus: deliver reliable, technically accurate commercial generator services to businesses across the capital. Our Story

We started in 2009 as a small team of generator engineers who saw that London's commercial market was underserved by specialists. Most of the large hire companies at the time focused on volume and treated service quality as secondary. We built our business on the opposite model: technical excellence first, with clear documentation, honest pricing and engineers who take ownership of every job they attend.

Since 2009, we have grown steadily by reinvesting in our fleet, our tools and our team's qualifications. We have never chased volume at the expense of quality. Every client on our planned maintenance programme receives the same level of attention, whether they have one generator or twenty.

What CompEx Certification Means

CompEx certification is the internationally recognised standard for competency in electrical and mechanical work in potentially explosive atmospheres. It is administered by EAL (formerly City and Guilds Engineering Assessment Ltd) and is required for work in classified hazardous zones as defined by ATEX and DSEAR regulations.

In practice, CompEx certification confirms that our engineers understand the special risks associated with working near flammable gases, vapours, dusts and fibres, and that they are trained to select, install, inspect and maintain equipment safely in these environments. It is a mandatory qualification on many industrial sites including oil and gas facilities, chemical plants, food production sites and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

For clients outside hazardous area industries, CompEx certification is a signal of technical depth. An engineer who has qualified to work in the most demanding environments brings a level of precision and attention to detail that benefits every job, regardless of site classification.

Our Approach

Every job starts with listening. We ask what the client needs the power system to do, not just what equipment they currently have. That approach means we specify solutions that fit the actual requirement rather than defaulting to a standard product. It also means we are honest when a simpler or cheaper option is the right answer.

We complete all work with in-house engineers. We do not sub-contract emergency call-outs or installation jobs to third parties. This gives us direct control over quality, and it means the engineer who installs a system is often the same person who maintains it, which builds genuine knowledge of the asset over time.

Are your engineers employed directly or are they sub-contractors?

All of our engineers are directly employed. We do not use sub-contractors for any part of our service, including emergency call-outs. This means you always get an engineer who is trained, insured and accountable under our quality management process, and who has direct access to our parts inventory and management team.

Do you carry insurance?

Yes. We carry full public liability insurance and employers' liability insurance, and copies of our certificates are available on request. We are also able to confirm compliance with specific insurance requirements for large sites, including minimum liability limits and contractor insurance schedules.
